Russian film tops Rabat cinema festival

Russian film "Don't Think about White Monkeys" by Yuri Mamin won the Grand Prix Hassan II award for best film at the 15th Auteur Cinema Festival Saturday (June 27th) in Rabat, MAP reported. Iraqi director Fadel Abbas received the jury award for "Dawn of the World". English actress Brenda Blethyn won the best actress award for her role in "London River" by Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb.
Several well-known Arab performers are participating in this year's festival, including Lebanese chanteuse Haifa Wehbe, who screened her first film, "Doukane Chahata", at the opening session on June 21st. The event runs through June 30th.
