Mauritania arrests online journalist
2009-06-19
Mauritanian journalist Hanefi Ould Dehah, the editor of online newspaper Taqadoumy, was arrested on Thursday (June 18th), ANI reported. The arrest may be related to a defamation complaint filed by presidential candidate and AJD-MR party chief Ibrahima Moctar Sarr over an article alleging that he used campaign money to buy a villa in a residential area of Nouakchott. Dehah returned to Mauritania last week from the United States, where he had been pursuing graduate studies.
