Morocco reports second swine flu case; Algerian airports on high alert

2009-06-14

Morocco's health ministry reported a second case of H1N1 swine flu on Saturday (June 13th). The young Moroccan man was on the same June 10th flight from Montreal to Casablanca as an 18-year-old woman identified Thursday as the country's first swine flu patient. The student and her family remain under quarantine in Fez, AFP reported.

Meanwhile, Algerian health officials on Friday notified all medical centres at airports and ports to step up surveillance on passengers, Echorouk reported. On Thursday, the World Health Organisation raised the alert level for the swine flu virus, announcing a "global pandemic" for the first time in 40 years.
