Kadhafi concludes state visit to Italy

2009-06-14

Libya's large delegation rolled up their Bedouin tent from Rome's Villa Doria Pamphli Park on Saturday (June 13th), ending Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi's first visit to Italy. "Moamer Kadhafi has been treated as a special case because we know that he is a bit unique," AFP quoted Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as saying after the group's departure.

During the historic three-day visit aimed at boosting bilateral relations, Kadhafi promised to give priority to Italian companies. He also invited some 20,000 Italians deported from Libya after the 1969 revolution to return to his country.
