Kadhafi speaks of "new page of friendship" with Italy

Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi Kadhafi met with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Wednesday (June 10th) during his a three-day official visit to Italy. At a joint press conference with Kadhafi in Rome, Berlusconi praised "the real and deep friendship" between the two countries. Meanwhile, with a photo of Libyan national hero Omar al-Mokhtar pinned to his military uniform, Kadhafi spoke of "a new page of friendship" being opened in bilateral relations with Italy, AP reported. The Libyan leader explained that the photo symbolized the Italy's 1911-1941 occupation.
