Sonatrach inks $1.5 billion deal for new gas pipeline

Sonatrach on Wednesday (June 3rd) signed deals with Italy's Saipem SpA and Egypt's Petrojet to build a new Algerian gas pipeline. The $1.5 billion pipeline will cross 11 provinces and carry 9 billion cubic metres per year to supply natural gas to power plants in El Tarf and Oum El Bouaghi, APS reported. Algeria was the world's fourth biggest gas-exporting country in 2008, APS cited an Arab petrol magazine as reporting this week.
