2009-05-17
Senegalese Foreign Minister Cheikh Tidiane Gadio and Libya's African Affairs Minister Ali Triki will hold the second round of mediation talks between Mauritanian political rivals on Monday (May 17th), ANI reported on Saturday. Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade and African Union Commission chief Jean Ping met last week in Nouakchott with former President Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdellahi, former junta leader Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz and RFD opposition party leader Ahmed Ould Daddah. The talks will continue on Monday.
Meanwhile, RFD and the National Front for Defence of Democracy suspended protests planned for Sunday and Monday as a show of good will during the mediation discussions, Journal Tahalil reported.
