Algeria opposition FFS mounts Tizi-Ouzou, Béjaïa protest marches

Algerian opposition Front of Socialist Forces (FFS) organised two large demonstrations on Thursday (April 2nd) as part of its call for a boycott of the April 9th presidential elections, local and international press reported. The first protest march in Tizi-Ouzou reportedly drew 5000 people. Later in the day, thousands marched in Béjaïa, FFS Secretary Karim Tabbou led both protests, Tout sur l'Algerie reported.

We hate these disturbers who disrupt every step made by the people. They know we are aware of their real size. They fear to enter the race because they will be uncovered to the sides they work for. Therefore, they always shun participation, arguing that the elections are fraudulent. What of their attitudes and practices within their parties? They must show us first that they are democratic inside them. They are monopolizing inside them the voices of militants for decades. As the proverb says “If you have a glass house, don't throw stones”; the wise understands.
