Algeria sentences terrorist to death for mass murder, rape

An Algerian court sentenced a convicted mass murderer and rapist to death on Wednesday (January 14th), local press reported. Prosecutors said that while Djelloul Kallal, aka Abou El Khaythama, was a member of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA), he was responsible for hundreds of assassinations in Khemis, Meliana and Boumedfaa municipalities of Ain Defla province. The terrorist was also accused of killing Algerian soldiers, executing civilians in Khemis Meliana and Boumedfea and raping women and adolescents who had been kidnapped by the terrorist group, APS reported.

In other news, Algerian army forces killed six terrorists on Tuesday (January 13th) in an anti-terror operation Tuesday (January 13th) in the mountainous area of Djebel Bouzegza, between Boumerdés and Bouira, El Khabar reported on Thursday (January 15th). The men were members of the "Martyrs' Brigade", a branch of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Algerian press reported.
