Egypt to host forum on Mediterranean Union proposal

Egypt has invited Arab Mediterranean countries and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa to meet in Cairo on May 24th to discuss French President Nicolas Sarkozy's Mediterranean Union proposal, Egyptian news agency MENA reported on Thursday (May 22nd). Earlier this week, the European Commission adopted a plan to enhance relations with its partners from the southern shore of the Mediterranean region. The union is due to be launched at a summit in Paris on July 13th, days after France assumes the rotating EU presidency.
