2008-04-25
Tunisian President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali discussed French President Nicolas Sarkozy's Mediterranean union proposal with special French envoy Henri Guaino on Thursday (April 24th) in Tunis. France is expected to present detailed plans and host a summit on the issue in July, when the country takes over the six-month rotating EU presidency. 27 EU members and 12 Mediterranean nations, including Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia are to be included in the Union. Sarkozy himself is scheduled to arrive on a three-day visit to Tunisia on Monday.
