Libya's Afriqiyah Airways is buying nine A320s and three A330s from Airbus for $1.7 billion. "It is the first large aircraft order in 30 years after many years of embargoes and sanctions on Libya," Afriqiyah CEO Abdallah Sabri Shadi told Reuters. "It is definitely a big boost and a new start to aviation and transport businesses in Libya and I think we will see more demand from new operators for Airbus or Boeing," he added. (Reuters)

Salam alaikoum. I am from Libya- Ghat I have an important suggestion. Why don’t you make a programme for students to study abroad in order to develop the progress of aviation in Libya? Wish you wellness.

I present my thanks to the Afriqiyah Airways for offering us an opportunity to train on the airbus. In fact the dream came true and we are now in Toulouse to achieve that goal. We pledge that we will be faithful in work with Afriqiyah. And we won’t forget this courtesy. With the will of God we will promote Afriqiyah to the highest levels. We reiterate our thanks to all the staff of the company. Special thanks to captain Sabri Chadi.

أبن ليبيا - أحمد المنتصر الصادق Posted 2008-05-16
Captain Sabri S. Abdalla. In the name of God…From the corruption of fat cats in the Libyan republic, a corruption which has extended to services both minor and major. We will publish many detailed episodes about corruption in one of the major Libyan companies which has made progress recently to reach the European Union environment in a rapid and important way… Al Afriqiyah Airline Company which is managed by the secretary of the committee: Sabri Saad Abdellah Chadi. He has been a hard-working person ever since the era of the first Afriqyah. He has been trying raise the seriousness of the work performed. He is a founder of the company. He is considered the founder of Al-Afriqiyah airline company. But the major catastrophe is the financial management of the company which is managed by Doctor Fathi Nasr Beribch who used to work in the bank of Saving for Estate Investment… He was unable to work anymore in the bank after committing major corruption in the bank and he involved many people in his childish and immature acts. He is the kind of person who bears a revolutionary or rather military style. One of his main characteristics is barbarism in the way he speaks and also stupidity in managing financial issues… So how can he be appointed as a financial manager in the biggest Libyan airline? Fathi Beribch did major corruption in his luxurious office on Avenue Omar El Mokhtar. He appointed the most beautiful secretary in his office. He only likes dealing with secretaries…The man has pleasures…in the circus of adolescence at work which drove this Beribch … to become a giant instead of supporting the work of young people and reforming what was destroyed by others even though others made many reforms. He destroyed the reformed and destroyed the corrupt…The Fathi gang and the Beribch Al Afriqiyah company now, I wonder how many Beribch of the family of this idiot are working with him in the management and other sites as well…Is this the reform you are promising us doctor Seif Al Islam? Why does the Algerian state, control and inspection system maintain these examples of fat cats which are getting fatter? Why does the administration of the company not make someone like Captain Chadi Sabri interfere?

Hi. My name is Mahmoud. The dream of my life is to become a pilot. When Al Afriqiyah airlines opened its doors, it has become sure that my dream will become reality. But here the problem rises. The problem is that they want a certificate of secondary education but I only have a certificate of intermediate education. By the way, I am fluent in English. I hope that someone in Al Afriqiyah airlines will help me.

Favouritism is unfortunately everything in the company. By God this is a pity. They accept only the people they want even if they are unqualified. This is from the end, and we are watching.

A greeting to you Captain Sabri Chadi for your great efforts in the qualification of your Libyan brothers onboard airbus aircrafts. God willing, you will make continuous progress. I salute you for your great efforts to promote this sector. We wish you success and progress.

In the name of God the most gracious the most merciful. The officials of the company are serious and willing to boost the commercial aeronautic sector to the world level. They are a good example for nationalism and responsibility which we miss so much as Libyans. But we hope that Captain Chedi, engineer Remah Tayer and engineer Abouajila, who are known for their high values, living consciences and faithfulness, to clean up the company from the croupy so that it will not have the same fate as many Libyan companies and projects. I ask God the Almighty to grant success to everyone for the good of the people and the country.
محمد على الراجحي Posted 2008-07-15
A greeting to Al Afriqiya airlines for its distinction. A special greeting to captain Sabri Chedi for encouraging continuously Libyan young people especially the pilots of light transport who were always unjustly treated after joining the Libyan airlines and although their levels are better than the levels of the pilots of the Libyan airlines. They have shown their worthiness in Alboraq company. There is the example of Ayman Ben Naji, Salah El Mehjoub, Moussa Achour and Abdelhamid Hakouma. Some of them are pilots in the Omani airlines such as Wael Derouki. Some are in Al Afriqiya now including Nouri Milad, Oussama Fetis, Ali Milad, Adil Ferara, Khalid Arnaouti, Soulaimane Kajim and Abderrahmane Kich. They are all excellent. Praise be to God because they were offered these opportunities to continue their careers. This was possible thanks to God firstly then the captain Sabri Chedli and other national people like him. They have highly contributed to the development of young executives in Libya for the progress and advancement. Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.

In the name of God, the most gracious the most merciful. We thank Captain Sabri, Captain Ahmed Boukhchim, Captain Abdelatif Kaplan, Captain Adil Ferara and all the pilots who weren't mentioned and heads of crews for accepting me. I hope not to disappoint the company. I am a student in the English language course. We will be, God willing, at the highest level. Thank you for assisting us hand in hand to boost the company to the world level. We in this company, with this wise administration, we represent the image of our country Libya. God grants success.

Hi. By God, one is happy to see this high and constructive style of writing far from the paid pens. By God the Almighty, we are living in prosperity and goodness. God willing, things are going forward. My comment about civil aviation in Libya is the following. Praise be to God, we have passed the unjust blockade which had a negative impact on the progress of Libya in this sector. But thanks to wise leadership, all problems were overcome. My comment about Afriqiyah airlines, by God, one is happy to hear that Libyan young people are pilots of high standard airbuses. I thank Al Afriqiyah for offering them the opportunity to continue their career in this sector. Captain Sabri Chedi is very famous in that regard for boosting Libyan young people. God bless him for this work which is necessary in order to produce a new generation to continue the work of the old generation. I hope that new pilots will be committed to working in Libya and not run away to the Gulf after they receive their flight hours. Be careful, they are just attracting you with dollars. Wages will improve soon, God willing. Believe me, if you receive two thousand dinars in Libya while you are tranquil with your family, it is better than five thousand dollars and a hard life abroad. Living abroad is hard, so take care. I wish success to everyone. Salam alaikum.
مهندس - مصباح على حمزة التاجوري Posted 2008-07-19
Peace and mercy of God be upon you. Honestly, I have a simple comment about Libyan pilots who go to the Gulf for money. Yes I say it confidently, for dollars because they get hundreds of thousand dollars a month. Even a quarter of this amount is impossible in Libya. However, all those who go are old. They just work for three or four years then they retire. At least they get something on which they can rely. However, the problem is with young pilots who were recruited recently by Al Afriqiyah airlines. They are about twenty pilots. The fathers of about five of them are pilots in Al Qatariya. They are just waiting for their sons to reach five hundred hours to take them to Al Qatariya. By the way, they have all opened files there. Even the certificates which they received two weeks ago from airbus, they have transfered them to Al Qatariya. Their posts are ready. I am surprised how can captain Sabri Chedi and Al Afriqiyah operations tolerate this serious issue? Of Course they say that they have signed a five-year contract. But I confirm to you that they won't stay for five years for a simple reason. Some of them have Canadian or English nationality. This means you cannot prosecute them if they run away. So, firstly, by God the Almighty, the pilot who receives training from the funds of the Libyan state and after he completes training he runs away to work in the Gulf, is not a man and his money isn't legitimate. This is not agriculture. Therefore, I suggest that a convention be signed between aviation companies to avoid the transfer of pilots unless they pay what they owe. Not just the price of training, not as Abdelkader Younsi did. No, no, even a cup of coffee which he drinks at Al Afriqiyah. They must charge him for it and the cost of hours. So he must pay half a million dinars, and even this is not much. Then he will know whom he is teasing. This is funny. The Libyan state disburses, teaches and sends him on missions, and after he finishes, he runs away to work in the Gulf. This is the top of treason to the nation. Its punishment should be execution. A law should also be enacted to criminalize such treason. Those who have Libyan and foreign nationalities should be dealt with more firmly. I know about ten pilots who have a foreign nationality and work at Al Afriqiyah now. If you want their names just let me know. One last word to Captain Sabri Chedi, you have always been good to them, you are thanked for this, so complete your good act and raise their wages. Peace and mercy of God be upon you. An engineer.
حمزة دقدوق Posted 2008-07-20
I admire Al Afriqiyah airlines and its aspirations for the future. As I seriously want to become a pilot, I submitted an application to study in this sector with you. I hope that I won't disappoint you. Thank you.
محمد بن رمضان Posted 2008-07-21
Congratulations to Al Afriqiyah airlines. God willing it will keep going forward. We thank you very much for offering this opportunity to Libyan young people. This is a great effort by Captain Sabri Chedi which he should be thanked for. I also hope that new pilots will be committed to their national duty in order to keep progress and not go away as my colleague previously said in his reply. But I think that Al Afriqiyah is taking all this into consideration. As to those who have another nationality, I hoped that there would be priority to original Libyans. It is supposed that those who have another nationality be deprived of their Libyan citizenship. Because if he thinks of going away, he will use his foreign nationality to get a job in the Qatari or any other private company. Therefore, Al Afriqyah can do nothing since he is considered a foreigner. You should take care of that. I wish success to everyone.
عصام فخر الدين المقرحي Posted 2008-07-22
Honestly Al Afriqiyah airlines deserve all respect and esteem especially the chairman of its board of directors Captain Sabri Chedi. He has worked for the development of the company and the creation of a new generation capable of continuing the challenge. Thank you for offering an opportunity to the Libyan young people and the national element. We wish them all success. Sincerely, I heard excellent news from some French friends about the excellent results and grades obtained by the Libyan pilots in Toulouse. God willing, always forward and Al Fatih forever.
عبدذ الباسط الزنتاني Posted 2008-07-30
In the name of God. I had a meeting in a cafe under Al Afriqyah. I heard randomly a discussion next to me by a group of new pilots. They were talking about the injustice they are subject to by captain Said Hariouidah and the mistreatment they receive inside the plane and insults. He forgot that one day he was worse and more ignorant than them. Therefore, I address him a word from this platform and tell him let new pilots in peace so that they won't run away to the Gulf States. I heard one of them saying in fact to his colleague wait a little until you get the number of hours and leave the company. It is supposed that the trainers take care of the new members and assist them. The state spent thousands of dollars for them to study and work in Al Afriqiyah. Therefore, I advise you to check again your educational methods. A good word will help the new pilot to understand. The sublime way is the best method of learning. They say of course that Captain El Akari keeps silent during all the flight as if words are paid. Ten dinars per hour is a little. Therefore, I tell him brother Ammar, knowledge is a donation. So give from the knowledge granted to you by God to new pilots. God willing, you will find it in front of you in the balance of your good deeds on the day of judgment. I heard them praising Chedli and saying that he is the best trainer. But help new members, God will help you and protect you. Make them love the company and the country so that they don't run away. Finally, I heard one of them saying to his colleague that captain Toumi got a job in the Gulf, his salary is over ten thousand dollars. The second said, by God Captain Madani is man. He closed his mobile, ran away and got a job abroad. The third, I think that his name is Soulaimane Kajam, he said that he got a job and would leave after two weeks. Therefore Afriqiyah, it is supposed that anyone who enters as a pilot is under the responsibility of the company. Try to convince these three pilots to change their mind about running away. Try to improve the salaries. Finally, this is the conversation I heard. I hope that these are just words and cafe gossip. Wish success to everyone.

The catastrophe is that the whole list includes sons of influential people. They choose people they want and lie to the people. They say that they have opened the exam to 1,100 students but only 24 students passed. Glory be to God, all those who passed are the cubs of the beasts who are in the company with my respects to them. But the catastrophe is : those they send, they go and come back empty like those they send from here. We ask God for guidance. Salam alikum.

I want to clarify to everyone the attitude of pilots to stewards. It is like the attitude of an officer to a criminal unlike the attitude of pilots to hostesses, it is like the attitude of a young man to his fiancée before marriage. He treats her very gently. To the director of the company, I wish that this masquerade and mockery stops. The problem is that the age of pilots is similar to the age of my father. Thanks to Remah Tir and Aboubakr Hejaoui.

What is the certificate awarded I mean the type of licence and type of aircrafts for training, studying duration? I have a diploma of secondary education in engineering sciences according to conditions but my English is not very good. You might feel that I am making a lot of questions. Just forget them except one question, how to register with Al Afriqiyah airlines? My best wishes to the creative and prominent captain as I heard but I don't know personally the captain who trained generations, Sabri Chedi. He is a rightful man. He loves those who are hard-working, respect them and offers them the best treatment. By God, it was he who stopped the treason in the company. He stopped their corruption. He might have made mistakes, like any person who can make mistakes. This is his way with all people. This is his nature, by God. I like to work with him because he is righteous. But people don’t like honest people. But unfortunately, they issued a decision to release him from financial administration on 5-3-2009, the number of the decision is 112. If only they would retract from it. A greeting to all the staff of the company.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you. My brothers, I am a pilot and graduate of the Piloting Academy in Germany. My registration number is A340 and B737-800. In reality, my Libyan citizenship, which I am proud of wherever I go and with everyone I met. It doesn’t allow me to work in a European country such Germany or any other Gulf state. Anyway, Lufthansa offered me to work with it. But as my father and mother want me to work in Libya in the Libyan Airlines or Al Afriqiyah. I followed their advices and went there. But I was unable to get a job during these days with them for personal reasons. My dear ones, my eyes nearly became blind, I spent all my time in studies. I did all this in order to work in my dear and beloved Libya. But I was received with cold methods, a harsh attitude, base salary and few hours just because of favouritism. This reached the point of paying me the salary but in the second month no (The Libyan Airlines). Anyway, one day, Mr Johan Lyman Pierdman called me, he works in Lufthansa. Now I also work in that company. I have received recently, praise be to God, a merit certificate in assiduity and loyalty in civil aviation and also TRNO, praise be to God. I hope from my heart to work soon with Al Afriqiah airlines in order to serve my country and Muslims, this is my slogan. By the way I don’t have any other citizenship even if I was offered the German citizenship many times. Comment is yours now. Thank you very much with great love and nostalgia for Libya my darling. I hope that Al Afriqiyah airlines takes care of students who study at their own fees abroad and who don't have any influence to study at the fees of the state especially those who study in Jordan. This is because the student spends money on education then he doesn't get a job. One who studies at his own fees certainly feels the effect of money and has a result. (An aircraft student in Jordan).

In the name of God the most gracious the most merciful. Firstly, I would like to address my respect and esteem to every male and female employees on top of them Captain Chedi Sabri for his efforts to make the company reach the highest levels. I am a student in the sessions of new stewards. At the beginning, we had an English course in Ozone Institute. Then we joined Atlas Institute to complete other levels. In fact, we have completed the necessary level “pet”. However, unexpected things happened from officials in the steward service as some students were admitted to the air safety session including some who weren't with us since the beginning and some who have not successfully passed the language level. When we asked about the cause we hoped that the ambiguity will be clarified. However the chief of the steward service says that the chief of operations say that chief of operations says that human resources and of course the supervisor of the session, with my respects to my brother readers, is powerless in the face of oppressive decisions even of the injustice is clear, but...Anyway, I hope that the respectable captain interferes on this topic because in fact your sons the students captain want to contribute highly to the progress of the company as much as you do. However, they thought that their efforts will make them reach their goal, but God is the most powerful. We have a bountiful God. God suffices me and he is the best protector. Afriqiyah airways is a Libyan company. I consider successful economically. However, there are some who hinder the company including some employees in it or the managers of the company. They don’t care about the company or the interest of the company. If there is a problem between them and another person, even if the problem is personal, the services of the company stop. These aren’t slight problems. I hope that officials restructure and reorganize the company. Please consider this. Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.

In the name of God the Beneficent the Merciful. I think that every problem has more or less a solution. But maybe the person you are asking for a solution is incapable of that, especially if it is something associated with the state. As some brothers have said, salaries of pilots in Qatar are excellent and reflect the work of these pilots. But the important question is do Libyan airlines not offer good salaries to pilots and their assistants to secure them a respectable life or are they seeking more than just a salary?
عنصر وطنى Posted 2009-10-20
A great and huge achievement of the great revolution of this great people. We must preserve it and upgrade it with good treatment, reward, training, encouragement and prioritising local citizens. The company requires on the one hand that the level of the company be in the same rank as world companies in its competence, services and schedules. This is very good and natural. But at the same time, it doesn't want the level of salaries of Libyans to be the same as in these companies. The argument and pretext in the company are limited and weak. Higher wages cannot be paid. This pretext is far from reality because if the pretext is financial, the reality says totally the opposite of this. Foreign crew members receive very good treatment. Their administrative, financial procedures and different insurances are adjusted on time. Their wages and benefits are the double what national team-members receive. Even the slightest benefits are granted. Transport is free for the foreigner but the local worker has to pay for this service. Qualifications and experience are almost the same but we all work with contracts, there is no permanent recruitment. So what is the difference? I don't know. The reality says that all Libyan airway crews in Al Afriqiyah airlines work hard day and night with so much concern for this company. But the moral and financial remuneration is not up to this effort. We hope that anyone who has an explanation or analysis will share it with us.
